CRYPTA Releases new album 'Shades of Sorrow'

Brazilian death metal powerhouse CRYPTA is gearing up to unleash their highly anticipated second album, titled "Shades of Sorrow," set to drop on August 4, 2023, via Napalm Records. The band, which was formed in 2019 by former NERVOSA members Luana Dametto (drums) and Fernanda Lira (vocals), has undergone a transformation and now boasts the impressive guitar skills of Tainá Bergamaschi and Jessica di Falchi.

CRYPTA made a seismic impact on the metal scene with their debut offering, "Echoes of the Soul," released in 2021. The album made waves by securing the #55 spot on the Official German Album Charts and making formidable debuts at #15 on the US Hard Music Albums and Top New Artist Albums charts.

Staying true to their distinctive sonic identity introduced in their inaugural full-length release, CRYPTA seamlessly blend classic and contemporary death metal with potent infusions of extreme and black metal elements on "Shades of Sorrow."

The album launches with a gripping instrumental piano introduction titled "The Aftermath," setting an eerie tone that segues into the ferocious growls of "Dark Clouds," instantly showcasing the band's compelling synergy. "Poisonous Apathy" envelops the listener with electrifying guitar textures and a commanding bassline, while the unrelenting assault of "The Outsider" unleashes a barrage of drums and relentless intensity before morphing into a softer outro that smoothly transitions into the melancholic intro of "Stronghold," a track characterized by its slower tempo and melodic sensibilities.

The remarkable drumming on "The Other Side of Anger" lays the foundation for menacing vocals that conjure an overwhelming tempest. The haunting instrumental piano interlude "The Limbo" sets the stage for the intricate guitar work on "Trial of Traitors." Following the eerie atmosphere of "Lullaby for the Forsaken," "Agents of Chaos" unfolds, showcasing the band's exceptional musicianship and its dynamic shifts. The unyielding death metal assaults of "Lift the Blindfold" and "Lord of Ruins" provide a final surge of the signature CRYPTA sound, leaving listeners breathless, before the album gracefully concludes with the beautiful instrumental outro "The Closure."

It's evident that the immensely talented women of CRYPTA have once again crafted a remarkable opus with "Shades of Sorrow," showcasing their technical prowess and song writing finesse across the 13 relentless tracks. The album was meticulously recorded at Family Mob Studio, skilfully mixed by Daniel Bergstrand at 33 Stockholm, Sweden, and masterfully mastered by Jens Bogren at Fascination Street Studio.
