Lethal Technology Set to Release Ground-breaking Album "Mechanical Era"
Swiss industrial-progressive death metal outfit, Lethal Technology, has joined forces with Wormholedeath Records for the release of their upcoming album, Mechanical Era. Scheduled for worldwide release on 2nd August 2024, the album represents a significant milestone for the band as they push the boundaries of metal, merging futuristic and post-apocalyptic soundscapes with a brutal, genre-blurring style.
An Exploration of Futuristic Themes Through Metal
Mechanical Era offers listeners a journey through dystopian and futuristic realms, as Lethal Technology fuses the intensity of industrial, death, and progressive metal to craft a distinctive soundscape. “You will travel through post-apocalyptic and futuristic worlds,” the band explains, hinting at a conceptual evolution where each track contributes to an expansive narrative. This album continues the band’s trend of exploring diverse sounds, moving seamlessly between industrial metal’s grit, death metal’s heaviness, and progressive metal’s complexity.
A New Line-Up for a New Era
Founded in Collombey, Switzerland, in 2017 by guitarist Cédric Ferret, Lethal Technology has undergone a complete line-up transformation for 2024. This refreshed line-up brings new energy and musical influences to the band, ranging from Devin Townsend and Fear Factory to Dream Theater and 1980s icons like Genesis. Today, the band consists of Cédric Ferret on guitars, programming, and bass; Yu Chen handling lyrical vocals; Benjamin Fievez delivering growls; Michael Pascale on guitars; Fabrice D’Agostini on lead guitar; and Loris Larue on drums.
This collaborative force shapes Mechanical Era’s thematic focus and sound, evoking scenes of a post-apocalyptic future through intense instrumentation and layered musical exploration. With their multi-dimensional influences, the band delivers a uniquely experimental metal experience, poised to resonate with fans of diverse metal genres.
Track List and Conceptual Depth
The ten tracks on Mechanical Era promise an epic narrative that touches on themes of human and mechanical conflict, survival, and existential reflection. Each track seems to build upon a vision of the future where human identity battles against encroaching mechanisation, with songs like “Forbidden Flesh” and “Factory” setting an ominous tone, and others like “Programmed World” and “Digital God” exploring the depths of humanity in a mechanised age.
